Traditional Pork Souvlaki

Traditional Pork Souvlaki

This dish is very simple to prepare and the flavours really stand out. The key to this recipe is letting the pork marinate overnight allowing it to develop those wonderful flavours.

Serves: 4

Ingredients

· ½ lemon, juiced

· 2 tbsp olive oil

· 2 tbsp soy sauce

· 1 tablespoon fresh oregano

· 3 cloves garlic, crushed

· 2 pounds pork tenderloin, cut into 1 inch cubes

· 2 red peppers, cut into 1” squares

· 2 green peppers, cut into 1 “ squares

· 1 large red onion, cut into 1” squares

· 12 large skewers

Directions

1. In a large bowl, mix together the lemon juice, olive oil, soy sauce, oregano, and garlic; add pork and vegetables if you choose, and stir to coat. Cover, and refrigerate overnight.

2. Preheat grill for medium-high heat. Thread the pork, and vegetables onto skewers alternating colours for best appearance.

3. Lightly oil the grill. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, or until an internal temperature of 165 degrees F is achieved, turning skewers often for even cooking.

4. Serve with your favorite sides.
